While Starscream uses his new Warworld body to torture Optimus and Megatron (because it’s a Furman comic, of course there’s torture involved) Jhiaxus decides to declare all-out war on Warworld for daring to not be under Cybertronian control. Rook, realizing that his commander is slipping back into angry tyrant mode, makes an emergency call to the Liege Maximo. Took you long enough, Rook.
Megatron and Optimus work together to try and reach Starscream. Megatron swings Optimus toward a cable that will help Op reach the communication center, because he still believes Jhiaxus can be reasoned with (because Furman’s Optimus is an idiot), and misses the cable, which moves itself to let Optimus grab it. As Starscream is forced to turn his attention from tormenting Megatron (and even Megatron notes Starscream lack originality), Optimus reaches the communication center but Jhiaxus decides he will blow up Earth and starts with San Francisco. Because Simon Furman wrote this story, San Francisco is destroyed, and Jhiaxus picks another target, even if his own men are still there. Oh yes, Optimus, I’m sure he can be reasoned with. He’s just so logical and compassionate.
So Optimus turns his attention to Starscream, who is now being turned good by the Creation Matrix…because apparently the Matrix chose to be evil and now decides it wants to be good for…some reason. This is Optimus’ third body and I’m still trying to figure out when it bonded with the Matrix that was dispelled fighting Unicron. I’m not sure how to feel about this because I just want this series over already!
Then the Swarm shows up followed by three beautiful little words…To Be Continued! Who am I rooting for again. I kind of want to root for the Swarm to put this universe out of my misery and I wouldn’t put it past Furman to do that. That isn’t what happens and next week we’ll find out what does and end this nightmare.
