Lightsabers are a fascinating weapon in the Star Wars Universe. A blade made of energy, it can cut through almost anything and deflect energy blasts. It’s like He-Man’s Power Sword, only you need to have the superpowers already. But a weapon for a simpler time needs to upgrade to match the weapons of a modern time. Or you just need to get more creative with it, like Kid Fisto does in tonight’s battle.

Wildcat round 5

I missed round 4 but I’m back for this one.

The Battlefield: Star Wars: The Clone Wars FCBD special (Dark Horse; May, 2009) “The Gauntlet Of Death”

The Promoters: Henry Gilroy (writer), Ramõn Pérez (artist), and Michael Heisler (letterer)

The Genoshians are taking positions of a mine on Rishi and Kid Fisto has to go in and take them down. The problem is that they are using sonic weapons instead of energy weapons and there is no way to deflect those with a lightsaber. But Fisto has a plan, using a sniper named Cooker, who got his name from sniping Battle Droids power cells to watch them burn–not an easy sniper target. What’s Fisto’s plan?

Sounds reasonable suicidal.

And how well does this plan work?

Actually, Han had the right idea about a blaster by your side.

Yep, he deflects the sniper’s fire at the soldiers hiding behind rocks so Cooker couldn’t have shot them otherwise.

In the next panel that cannon goes boom.

However, when he reaches the doors the Genoshians have one more surprise waiting for Kid Fisto.

In the next panel the cannon goes boom.

In the next panel the cannon goes boom.

Then the Clone Troopers, without bad guys to kill them, swarm in and retake the mine. It just goes to show that sometimes you don’t need new tools, just new ways to use the old ones.
