Chapter by Chapter features me reading one chapter of the selected book at the time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

Chapter By Chapter Black Stallion's Ghost

It’s finally time to (supposedly) meet the horse god that had turned our villain into watered-down chocolate mousse. (Because he’s French and Jell-O would have been too harsh–plus I like chocolate mousse, who doesn’t?) Then again, following history means it could end up showing up for five paragraphs even though he’s in the chapter title.

Chapter 13: Kovi

A victim of the short chapters as things are getting interesting. Whether not not they become disappointing I can’t say right now. Alec is up the tree where we left him last chapter, when the loud whining starts filling him with fear. It calls out “Ko….vi”, which to me sounds like the Captain still falling apart. However, when Alec finally hits the ground he’s surrounded in a gold mist and what looks like a small child at the center. Could this be a supernatural entity? Could this be some kid with a flashlight, or a little person out looking for Alec and the Black? I think I’m not going to wait two weeks but will return next week so we can find out. Besides, events have made me late on this series as it is. I could use the time to catch up.
