Amazon’s purchase of comiXology brought the company into digital comics…but their focus has been on books via Kindle. While both companies have gotten into self-publishing, Amazon/Kindle has stuck to novels (even fanfic) while comiXology has stuck to comics, boosted by deals with DC and Marvel involving their digital comics. Now everything is coming together as Kindle will now distribute single issue Marvel comics. Rob Salkowitz of ICv2 explains why this is a good thing for comics and not something to be yawned about.
