Star Wars: Droids Vol.2 #2
Dark Horse (May, 1995)
“Rebellion” part 2 WRITER: Ryder Windham ARTIST: Ian Gibson COLORIST: Perry McNamee COVER ART: Kilian Plunkett LETTERER: Ellie DeVille BOOK DESIGN: Scott Tice EDITOR: Peet Janes
R2 & a legless C-3PO are locked up by Forno, but B-9D7, a droid they met last issue, helps them escape just as Olag and Xob also escape. B-9D7 points our heroes to a droid barge, but R2 overhears that the occupants will all have a memory wipe and escapes, steals a skiff bought by two kids who love to torture a particular power droid, and gives chase. And all goes according to the plans…of B-9D7!
What they got right: Nice little mystery being set up. And from what I remember of this comic seeing how humans (including the aforementioned brats) treat droids factors into the events to come.
What they got wrong: I can’t think of anything.
Recommendation: This is a most interesting story arc. Worth a read.

“Yesterday’s” Comic> Star Wars Droids V2 #1

Which Droids comic book series do you think is better: the Marvel Star Comics version of the Dark Horse one? And your reasons? I never read either comic although I do slightly remember the cartoon.

It’s not so much which is better but which one might prefer. The Star one was intended for younger readers and is more fun while the Dark Horse one is targeted to typical Star Wars comics readers and has better action. I like them both for what each brings to the table.

Good points. Most of the Star Comics titles appeared to have been geared towards younger kids, although Thundercats not so much. The cover of the Dark Horse Droids cover art definitely makes it appear to be geared towards a more mature audience unlike the Star Comics Droids covers.
