Transformers TWW The Dark Ages #3

“I told them not to put water on a grease fire, but would they listen?”

Transformers: The War Within – The Dark Ages #3

Dreamwave (December, 2003)

WRITER: Simon Furman
PENCILER: Andrew Wildman
INKER: Erik Sander
COLORISTS: Espen Grundetjern, Ramil Sunga, & Rob Ruffolo
LETTERER: Benjamin Lee

Springer is able to reach Defensor and the Protectobots defeat Devastator in their individual forms. Meanwhile, Jetfire is piecing events together, all these strange events happening at the same time distracting all of the factions, and only knows one mech to confer with…Shockwave! Too bad Grimlock caught the tail end of the conversation.

I don’t know if Furman was going for an anti-Combiner thing in having Defensor defeat Devastator as their individual forms. I just get that impression from the speech First Aid gives Springer later. I do admit the idea that Jetfire was a former Decepticon by choice (altering events of previous Jetfire/Skyfire depictions) gives him some history. As I recall I’m going to hate Grimlock’s reaction next issue.

Really, I’m just not into this issue. The fight between the Combiners and how the Protectobots win is okay but otherwise it’s mediocre in a miniseries I still think is crap. Just don’t bother.
