Sparkplug learns that Rad is within one of the mines and convinces the other Mini-Cons that the moon base is as much a prison as where the Decepticons held them. They also help save Rad before escaping as Megatron makes his way further into the base. Leader-1 attempts to lead Megatron into a trap, angry not only for the capture and forced experimentation but his treatment by Megatron. However, Dualor’s interference leads to Megatron escaping and not only Leader-1’s return to slavery but the Destruction Team now joining the captive Mini-Cons. Meanwhile, the Autobots agree to help find the other Mini-Cons.

What they got right: Using holograms so the kids can come along safely (because they aren’t really there)? Brilliant. The Destruction Team gets what’s coming to them (although I feel sorry for Leader-1). It’s a good wrap-up to this storyline.

What they got wrong: There are more attempts to shoehorn the show into this. We see Rad’s parents (who thanks to Guidi’s excellent art stills match the ones on the show) but they add nothing of importance to the story. Carlos and Alexis are wearing outfits similar to the suits they wore on the show when traveling with the Autobots but where did they come from in the comic, and why change into them when they’re just holographically projecting themselves into Optimus’ ship?

Recommendation: Explain to me why this story is good while The Dark Ages or any of the other Furman penned stories (except for the first The War Within) are actually enjoyable because I can’t figure it out. Give this arc a look.
