sound effects B&R#1

In the world of special effects there’s a debate going on between CG and practical effects. While practical effects usually means a more believable visual experience since it’s actually there with the actors and stuntpeople to act towards, computer generated effects have defenders saying that you can do things you can’t do (or can’t do in a budget) with the practical (pyrotechnics, anamatronics, stunt people, miniatures, full sets). Is there a happy medium between the two?

It’s not surprising that Freddie Wong, a man who built his YouTube career with computer effects, would have something positive to say about them, but he also loves practical effects. In this video from the Rocketjump Film School, Freddie makes a case for using both in a movie production.
