I should probably update that. They haven’t been on The Escapist in years. Anyway, this isn’t a filler video. It’s something I really wanted you to see. World War 2 has been done to death in video games in general and First Person Shooters specifically…or has it? With a guest artist and co-writer, Dan and James take a look at how World War 2-based video games can be fresh again.

    Although I haven’t played video games in years, I think it would be interesting to play video games that are based on the American Revolution or the Civil War. That’s something I never noticed. When I used to play games in the arcades back in the 80s and 90s, most of the war themed arcade video games seemed to have a Vietnam War/Rambo type theme meaning war games utilizing guerilla warfare in some tropical jungle.

    • American Revolution or Civil War might work as a real-time strategy game, and it’s been done, but since the guns of the period take a lot of time to load it wouldn’t work as a first person shooter.
