With a new movie on the way it’s no surprise that Marvel (who seems to be letting the movie studio dictate the comic studio) would want the Black Panther back on comic shelves. I’m a little wary of this. While T’Challa is a great, underused character in a comic world lacking in superheroes of color, it’s been hard for Marvel to find a creative team that could make it work for very long, hence the reason they have to create a new one. They’ve tried as often as their versions of Captain Marvel or the Silver Surfer. And the writer coming in comes from novels, which is hit or miss for comic writing. Still, I hope it works for them, since they need more black superheroes.
