The main story is one I’ve done a Friday Night Fight on in the past. Set during the search for the original Death Star’s plans, a group of Sith scientists manage to resurrect (supposedly) Darth Maul because they think Darth Vader is unfit to serve Darth Sidious thanks to his Jedi history. What follows is a fantastic battle that I would love to see performed or animated. This alone was worth picking up the comic, and is thankfully the majority of the comic. Because the other two stories are seriously lacking.

Li’l Maul breaks out of the home for wayward boys because he wants a lollipop. After causing a lot of trouble Senator Palpatine decides to take the boy under his own wing. It’s played for laughs, like a lot of “Li’l” versions of stories are but while the art is an interesting style Dave McCaig is no Art Baltazar when it comes to writing this kind of story. The Rebel Four, meanwhile, is a silly take on the Fantastic Four with Vader standing in for Doctor Doom and the rebels that try to invade killed off via traps close to the FF’s powers. It’s hard to really look down on it, but I could be trying to skirt my lack of interest in the Fantastic Four.

Overall, buy this comic for the Darth Vader versus Darth Maul fight, which takes up the majority of the 64 page comic (the other two stories are two to three pages each) because it’s completely worth it.
