“Yesterday’s” Comic> Iron Man #292

They’re both going to be counted out of the ring. And the arena.

Marvel (May, 1993)

Tony Stark cheats death again, and everybody’s happy…except Morgan Stark. As Tony deals with a therapist he doesn’t like he figures out that Marcy planted the evidence framing Rhodey for his “murder” and she confessed that Morgan put her up to it. Tony tells Morgan to leave the country but somebody has his car tire shot and Morgan flies over a cliff. Meanwhile, Tony tries to escape through his telepresence link with the Iron Man armor but Iron Man is attacked by a man calling himself Berserker 7, who has a grudge against Iron Man, while the party that had Morgan killed has Tony kidnapped, forcing the armor into the sea as Tony blacks out!

What they got right: It’s a good fight between Iron Man and Berserker 7. We have a new mysterious enemy for Tony as well.

What they got wrong: How many more time can we do the “Tony dies/overcomes some form of handicap” story? It really isn’t that long since the whole spinal damage incident and now we have diseases that he has to be cryogenically frozen for?

Recommendation: A good story but without the other issues surrounding it in this arc I can’t make a full judgement. It’s a lot of set-up that’s only interesting because the writing is good.
