While fighting a cold, Spider-Man gets mixed up with the Punisher’s attempts to stop a group of drug runners…violently. JJ is all for the new hero, until his new car gets wrecked during one of the fights. Spider-Man is able to get the criminals stops without getting killed though, but the Punisher is still at large.

What they got right: While I’ll be questioning the “based on the TV show” banner in a moment, I’m glad they kept the toon-like art style from Spider-Man Adventures. It was a good Punisher story for the age group but didn’t shy away from “the Punisher kills” while condemning the fact that he’s still a murderer.

What they got wrong: The Fox Kids show this claims to be based on would have its own introduction between Spider-Man and the Punisher, meaning this is falling into the same mistake as DC’s tie-ins, and that’s too bad.

Recommendation: An enjoyable “Spidey meets the Punisher” story, and it’s a better Spider-Man comic than the 90s would otherwise produce. Pick this one up.
