“The Green Revolution” part 1: “Bring Us A Leader”
WRITER: Ralph Macchio
PENCILER: Ben Herrera

Wolverine tries to get some time off, but the Hulk drops in…literally. Their fight is stopped by X-Factor members Havoc, Wildchild, and Polaris, who have been tasked to bring the Hulk to Hulkbuster base. However, something about the operation doesn’t sit well with Havok and he captures Wolverine as well, with Wildchild insisting he be allowed to kill the X-Man. At the base, Havok is proven right because General Ross is currently under the mental control of The Leader. Wolverine gets a message out the X-Men, but can they arrive in time?

What they got right: No more adaptation, and no I’m parodying a certain witch in red. This is original stories now, and Wolverine versus the Hulk is an obligatory tale.

What they got wrong: Which the show, and thus the previous X-Man Adventures this claims to be in continuity with, never had. Why not make this tale the first meeting of Wolverine and Hulk in this reality? Instead it’s “play it as close as we can to the main universe” time again, which always bugs me about the 90s tie-in comics. And congratulations, comic. As much as I hate Wolverine you made Wildchild even more annoying. I’m actually rooting for Wolverine against this cheap 90s knockoff! Speaking of 90s, why does Adventures Of Spider-Man get to look like the cartoon, and thus good, while this comic continues every problem 90s comic art had to offer?

Recommendation: I want to finish this arc before I give a final recommendation but as it stands it’s a typical X-book to me, and I have never been a fan of typical X-Men. That means you may enjoy it more than I do but it’s not for me, even with the Hulk stopping in.
