I’ve mentioned the Ultraman franchise in the past and will probably do so again. For the uniformed it’s about giant superheroes who fight Godzilla-type monsters. This isn’t surprising when you realize Eiji Tsuburaya’s big break was working on early Godzilla movies and this was his studio, Tsuburaya Production. August Ragone of The Good, The Bad, And Godzilla as well as numerous books on kaiju, posted on his site about a transition show between the first Ultraman and it’s predecessor, the X-Files style show Ultra Q (which predates the Fox series by decades).
