Our Master Of Ceremonies had decided to do a themed tournament instead of just a themed Prize Fight this time around, like when he first took over. The rule is to include some kind of martial arts kick. Sadly I used up my best stuff during Feet Of Fury as nobody can kick as good as Mark from the Battle Of The Planets comics. But I’ll do the best I can.
As I mentioned this afternoon, Acclaim’s remake of Valiant’s Ninjak was because they somehow thought it would make a better game. In the original idea, currently being used for the new Valiant Comics, Colin King is a government assassin. In Acclaim’s version, a kid named Denny Meechum is given superpowers by his favorite video game to stop the villains from the game, while King is just an Interpol agent who long story short got on his bad side. Considering our theme you can guess what happened next.

“Karate Kick” round 1
The Battlefield: Ninjak volume 2 #8 (Acclaim Comics/Valiant Heroes; October, 1997) “Wedded Blitz”
The Promoters: Kurt Busiek & Robert L. Washington III (writers), Neil Vokes (penciler), Rich Rankin (inker), Atomic Paintbrush (coloring), and Dave Lamphear (letterer)
Agent King accused Linda Meechum, future bride, of stealing artwork from various museums. Her brother Denny, as Ninjak, investigated to prove her innocence. The problem?
So instead of gaining an ally…
…he gets a new bruise.
Actually, you have to wonder if fans of the original version were upset to see him gets roundhouse kicked by his alter ego?
Head to Spacebooger.com by Sunday night and vote for your favorite Friday Night Fight! Winners of these 12 rounds head to the Prize Fight, so feel free to join in. We could use the competition. Rules are posted on Tuesdays.
