Some of the other Art Soundoff participants have been posting about some of their favorite and inspirational artists, but I’ve always focused more on the writing side (which explains why I’m catching up on the drawing side). So for this Soundoff I thought I’d give the people who make the story artists draw and color the spotlight they deserve.

I kind of kick myself for not mentioning Gene Cohn, who wrote the best of the Masters Of The Universe minicomics, but I don’t know what else he’s done and it’s not the stuff I’d write as much as I enjoy reading them. Maybe if I do another list I’ll remember to include him.

I remember that same creative writing class in middle school. We did have a good teacher who encouraged our writing which was heavily influenced by the comic books, cartoons, television, and movies of that time period (mid to late 80s). Without good writing, a comic book is not as good even if the artwork is totally super. Good writing is what makes reading a comic worthwhile.
