BW’s Morning Article Link: The Indie Comic Cartoons

As indie publishers began to rise up after the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the comic, animation studios took notice of potential kids shows and toylines, just as the heroes in a half-shell did when they became a toyline and cartoon. CBR lists off 16 such series, which oddly doesn’t include the Turtles, but does include a show and comic I’ve never heard of. Then again most of Adult Swim’s original shows aren’t worth watching anyway. They also tossed in a movie I didn’t know was made just to pad out the list. And I’m not sure Defenders Of The Earth should count since that was based on comic strips by one of the big names in newspaper strips and hardly independent.
