I came into the DC Universe as a kid, through Super Friends and reruns of the Filmation and live-action shows, and later into the comics during the “bronze age”. As of late DC Comics seems to keep their heroes away from kids, not counting the Justice League Action series on Cartoon Network (the things aren’t even a full-length episode, but still too long to be a short like CN enjoys doing now) or Scooby-Doo Team-Up and various attempts by Art Baltazar & Franco. Now ICv2 is reporting that DC will be launching a young reader’s imprint. No word on whether kid-friendly versions of DC superheroes will show up there and create a universe kids can enjoy, since the main universe no longer serves anyone not in college. I’ll keep an eye on this but I’m not what you’d call hopeful.

Maybe this will end up being like the DC version of Star Comics!
