I’m not sure how many of you are really going to care about this one but as a logo person (which should be obvious considering I have a logo for every major article series on this site except for the daily comic review) this is something of a curiosity for me. In a recent Saturday Night Live sketch a man goes pretty much insane of the logo for James Cameron’s Avatar movie, which is pretty much the Papyrus font. This brought a defense from the creator of the font, which is the target of scorn by the man in the skit. It’s like Comic Sans. It’s a good font no matter how overused it might be. (That’s why it might be overused…it looks good for someone who can’t afford a graphic artist, doesn’t have time to hunt down fonts, or isn’t like me and likes to create new logos) While it is lame for a blockbuster to use it beyond a base, especially given how much importance the movie gives to its visuals, let’s not blame the font or the creator.
The skit wasn’t even funny.
