Variety is reporting that Netflix will be pulling out of the Cannes Film Festival altogether after a new rules bans their movies from taking part in the competition side. This comes after Netflix films won last year, upsetting French theater owners. Is this another sign that theater and streaming are in a battle or is Cannes right for not including films not seen in French theaters given the history and purpose of the festival?
