No, this isn’t me ranting about Bendis again (although I could). This is about Superman’s actual death. While I still maintain the Death & Return Of Superman storyline was properly done it is on the Watchmen list of stories that caused damage to comics because writers want to recapture that success without realizing why it was a success. It did lead to an erosion of what death means to a superhero comics story and that’s annoying, but I don’t blame the story itself anymore than I do Watchmen.

SyFy Wire recently interviewed the people behind the event, who gave a full history of why it happened and how ABC’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman forced their hand. I should also note I learned of this article thanks to Four Color Media Monitor, and the webmaster had his own thoughts on the story.
