I still maintain that “Frosty The Snowman” isn’t a Christmas song, it’s a Winter song and not everybody celebrates Christmas with snow, or even during the winter season. I like the song just fine and I like hearing it at Christmas (I live in Connecticut, so snow at Christmas is kind of part of the landscape) but it’s not a Christmas song.
The Rankin/Bass special Frosty The Snowman attempts to work around that by involving Santa Claus and the first Christmas snow into his origin story. So I went ahead and added it to the Christmas special playlist. After all, the sequel and previous Saturday Night Showcase entry Frosty’s Winter Wonderland, which debuted his wife Crystal, is in there. So here it is for you tonight.
