I don’t think many of us (although some will) are going to miss the Kelvin timeline but that doesn’t necessarily mean classic Trek will come back. I also don’t mind not seeing a Tarantino version of Star Trek given that his storytelling style clashes with Trek’s. Not every story has to be exactly the same and I do like my variety, but a properly maintained franchise keeps to a theme and style even as the stories evolve. It can mess with that formula a bit but outright abandoning it and turning it into something it wasn’t intended to be loses and upsets old fans without necessarily drawing in enough replacements. Apparently Hollywood still continues to not get this though the investors are apparently starting to figure it out.
