I’ve talked about the right and wrong way to use the idea of the multiverse. The short version is you need a core universe to build off of and the multiverse informs the characters of the main universe. It’s not an excuse to make the version of the character you want and say “the heck with the source material” because that’s just using marketing to push your story or viewpoints. I’m not the only one to notice this.
