In the main story, Robotnik wants to destroy the jungle because he has a phobia towards it, so Snively uses a giant machine to tear it apart. The Freedom Fighters head there to stop him but Sonic and Rotor are waylaid thanks to sleep-inducing berries and an army of gorillas who don’t trust strangers and believe they are enough to handle Robotnik. Rotor’s plan to slip the berries into their stew hits a snag when Snively arrives but Sonic and Rotor are helped by Bunnie, Tails, and their old caveman friend Mobie. Snively is stopped and the gorillas become our heroes new allies.

Frankly there isn’t much to this story. It goes from moment to moment, with Sonic having to be an idiot in order to stay caught by the gorillas. The recap of who Mobie is was a nice addition (though they basically named him after the planet…like if I unfroze a caveman and named him Eart) but then he doesn’t really do anything Bunnie couldn’t have with her robotic arm. It’s a plot with a story and not much else.

Back in Knuckles journey he comes across his next threats, the sorcerer and the enchantress, the latter enslaving his body but not his mind. Forced to do menial tasks, Knuckles basically gives us flashbacks while attempting to fight off the enslavement, only for a paladin to come out of nowhere and save him. Sure, it continues the vision but all that comes of it is the paladin is able to point Knuckles towards his next target, and it’s back on the Floating Island. Like the previous story, it’s just kind of here with not much attached to it.

Overall this was not a very interesting issue. There are plots, and the stories both end properly but the stories themselves aren’t really satisfying.
