During a mission to Robotropolis where the Wolf Pack is aiding the Freedom Fighters, Sally is worried. Not because of the mission but because her father is secretly healed and warning her that Sonic is a traitor. During the mission the others believe they see Sonic cutting her rope, dropping her seemingly to her death. She’s rushed to Knothole but Dr. Quack pronounces her dead. The King immediately puts Sonic on trial, if you want to call it that since he’s immediately declared guilt, and sentenced to the Devil’s Gulag. However, Draco and Hershey the Cat know something and Draco is thrilled…and so is Robotnik as he managed to watch it all from his new headquarters!
Okay, here’s where I have to fight between being fair as a critic and my personal bias, because on a personal level I don’t like this story. I find myself getting mad when the hero is framed so easily. Nobody is asking how King Acorn is up and running, Sonic barely got a trial, and it only gets worse from here. Critically though I have to admit the story arc is set up well, this is easily Robotnik’s best scheme (not that his previous schemes in this comic were all that great), and you could say that everything is happening too fast for our heroes to process (except for Geoffrey St. John, who is clearly suffering his own bias and I’m going to have to put up with him the whole arc).
This is what my mindset will be the next three issues. I don’t like the story but at least for now it’s all personal rather than critical. We’ll see if the story wins me over by the time it’s done.
