Sent to an asteroid, our trio of Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails are drawn by an image of Athair into the dimension that holds power rings. Sonic and Knuckles return and after being blasted by Mammoth Mogul’s chaos energy those rings transform them into Super Sonic and Hyper Knuckles. It’s still a stalemate until Tails arrives and gets the same treatment, becoming Turbo Tails! Using Enerjak’s power syphon they manage to weaken Mogul a bit so he runs for the Floating Island’s Chaos Emeralds only for the chaos energy to trap him inside a giant Chaos Emerald, now the Floating Island’s new power source. Knuckles returns the true Sword Of Acorns to Sally and embraces his added responsibility while Sonic and Tails may see adventure elsewhere.

What they got right: Tails gets a super form! What, he’s my favorite Sonic character; of course I’m happy to see him get a boost. There’s quite a bit of action in this issue.

What they got wrong: There’s also a whole lot of talking. Prophecies, Mogul being called out on his inability to shut up, and commentary from Locke and his dad just gets boring after a while, even while the fights happen. The art is not that great either, way too loose and rubbery compared to how the comic is usually drawn. It feels like a rush job by both art duos in their section of the comic.

What I think overall: I really want to enjoy this ending, but the execution is just not strong even if the ending itself is sastifactory.
