Seeking answers, Knuckles confronts Kragok, but he manages to transport them both to the Zone the Dark Legion was trapped in. He does explain how Moritori Rex, Kragok’s dad, managed to impersonate his enemy Tobor before trying to escape the Zone. The real Tobor is there to meet him and drags him back just as Locke manages to get Haven’s systems up and running again. The Guardians don’t know Tobor was out there, Knuckles doesn’t know Haven and his long-lived ancestors are there, and you can be sure Moritori is planning to take advantage of both those situations for the Dark Legion.
What they got right: All the explanations appear to work and make sense. Not exposing Moritori Rex at the moment allows for potential drama down the road as the Dark Legion continues to be a threat. We also learn there’s years worth of time dilation in the Zones, something we have seen in previous Sonic The Hedgehog stories, including the state of Knothole Village at the time.
What they got wrong: Outside of the usual backstage stuff and video game deviations, not much outside of wondering how Kragok managed teleport both himself and Knuckles to their prison Zone.
What I think overall: I don’t know if hindsight ruining this reread or if I’m just not that into it in general. It’s okay storytelling but events caused all of it to not really matter in the final analysis.
