In the main story, our heroes return home, with nobody aware of the return of Elias, since none of them knew about the hidden prince. So Sonic, Tails, and Nate think this is a surprise party for Sonic’s return while their friends think the call to meet “someone from the past” is the King knowing about Sonic’s return home. Not that it matters when the mysterious hand sets off a device that sends asteroids crashing into the city. The Freedom Fighters help people escape the fallout and then meet Elias, while the King also have a happy reunion with Nate. Don’t worry, Sonic, your part is back in Knothole. Thankfully you don’t know that Kodos and Arachnis are no longer crystal, but can Snively maintain this temperamental team?
There’s not a lot to review because it’s just a set of events that happen to mostly go together, or in the case of the villains will be important later. The trio returns, rock falls, nobody dies, and then the subplot that had been going on otherwise unimportantly in the Knuckles comic just kind of happens. It’s not bad, just not really a lot to review.
In the “Tales Of The Freedom Fighters” back-up, the wolfpack make landfall on the island during a rainstorm. Seeking shelter they find two Overlander children named Aerial and Athena, who claim that their parents are gone and they’re alone. Also, Athena is mute. Reynard doesn’t believe them, but Lupe doesn’t want to leave children, even Overlander children, to fend alone. Again, not a lot to review, though it does show that Lupe is compassionate even to potential enemies.
Overall, this isn’t much of a comic to review, but it’s not a bad read, transitioning to the next story arc of the series more than anything else.
