I miss when Cartoon Network used to air these “Groovies” music video. I also miss when they and later Boomerang would air these nostalgic shows.
MeTV Toons aired a sneak peak of Super Friends last night, and will start airing the series today. I’m glad the sneak peak started with later seasons, when the show got good, but understandably the full series run starts with the original season, with Wendy, Marvin, and Wonderdog and none of the DC villains. I don’t hate it, but it’s clearly weaker than the show that made me a DC Comics fan before I even got my first DC comic.
I recommend either getting through season one for the novelty with the understanding that it gets better in season two, or starting with the second season, which depending on how MeTV Toons airs it would be The All-New Super Friends Hour or Challenge Of The Super Friends, follow that through Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians (the final and best season), then watch season one for the novelty.
The show gets a bad rep (especially for Aquaman) that I feel it doesn’t deserve and this is the best way for those of you new to the series to get a proper understanding of why it has the fan base it does among those of us who grew up with it.
