Stanely Martin Lieber
aka Stan “The Man” Lee
December 28, 1922 – November 12, 2018
The treatment of Stan Lee in his final days has been reported on in the past. Marvel using his connection to the company for profit. Two media companies using his name and acting like they own the man’s legacy. And the feud between members of his family.
Now Stan Lee’s former assistant, Jonathan Bolerjack, a former comic artist turned video producer, is bringing together footage he has documenting Lee’s treatment. Stan Lee: The Final Years is a documentary created from that footage and interviews with others who witnessed Lee’s legacy and his treatment firsthand. This is a short intro because I don’t know what else to add. Let’s check out the Kickstarter video.
Bolerjack is asking $300,000, and that’s the minimum he needs. He will use that money to compensate the crew who volunteered for this movie, as well as clear music and other footage, and whatever improvements they might need. Numerous rewards are listed featuring a photo comic, Captured Hero, with the cover of your choice, postcards, special screenings, and artwork by some of the creators interviewed in the movie like Justin N
Chris Braly of Bleeding Fool lists some of the controversies in Lee’s later life and today, as well as more about the documentary. You can also learn more and donate on the Kickstarter page. As of this writing they’re at $40,956. I have no money but I can get the word out and hopefully this gets made. I wouldn’t mind seeing the full story of what was done to this legend of comics and the people who should be held responsible for Stan Lee’s last days to be sad ones.
Excelsior. Hopefully this finally gets Lee some justice.
EDIT: Bolerjack appeared on the Nerdrotic Nooner podcast with Gary Buchler, Chris Gore, and X-Ray Girl to discuss the documentary and cover things not in the Kickstarter promo before going to other topics. The relative discussion is at the beginning, so if you aren’t interested in the rest you won’t miss anything relevant.
