The Sonic Adventure adaptation continues in the main comic. Knuckles comes upon an unconscious Robotnik and considers whether or not to finish him off before being attacked by Chaos. Nate gives Sonic and Tails a tracker to find the bi-plane, only to find it wrecked in Cat Country with the super emerald removed, and Knuckles out cold. Together the trio meet up with Big and Froggy, and head to Station Square just as Chaos chases more super emeralds, taking the ones that power the city’s artificial environment and becoming a giant water dragon that even attacks Robotnik. Tical gives Sonic a brief history and managed to get some of the emeralds away from Chaos, allowing Sonic to go to Super Sonic form, but will it be enough?
What they got right: If there’s more story to the game than the Sonic Super Special could finish, at least they’re not dropping it. We see the Freedom Fighters who aren’t in the game helping with rescue efforts.
What they got wrong: As a result (possibly out of necessity) of pacing not a lot happens. It’s more like set-up for the next chapter in the adaptation. We also don’t get to see what’s happening with the Chaotix and Locke.
What I think overall: This is a rather boring part of the adaptation but at the same time a necessary slow-down if they’re following the game. They made the call they had to, but it’s not the right place to start reading the adaptation.
