As seen in last week’s Prime review and the last page of the previous issue of this comic, which I didn’t review because I don’t think the angel lady matters to this story and I don’t follow this series, Kevin’s dad did indeed call on Firearm to find Kevin. This issue he tells Firearm all about it. Alec goes to his old group, the Lodge, for information, but it will mean he has to do some investigated for them in the future. With the information he needs, he sneaks into Samuel’s base, seeing Prime fly in, which he knows now is Kevin. Not wanting to kill guys following orders, one guard (I’m thinking the guy who questioned Samuels’ actions back in the Prime comic) letting him through to find Prime strapped to a table and Samuels over him with a bunch of scientists.
What they got right: Since Kevin’s dad doesn’t know about Prime’s alliance with Mantra it makes sense that he’s hire a guy like Alec Swan to find his son. I was worried all the backstory about how Kevin became Prime we haven’t gotten yet would show up here but thankfully it didn’t. Those are revelations best left to Prime’s own comic.
What they got wrong: Decompression is the issue here. For the panel space allowed, almost half the comic feels devoted to Alec breaking into the military base. I don’t know why that guard, if he is the one who is against what’s happening to Kevin, would know Alec is here to help Prime. There’s an interlude with some wanna-be named Lash and some looming threat named Lafferty I don’t care about. Most of the rest is just Alec learning and dealing with who he’s trying to find and getting help from some guy named Yates from the Lodge. How is a British co-op group working in California? In other words, not a lot happens this issue.
What I think overall: I’m still not interested in this series, but next time we’ll see how it bleeds back into Prime #10.

Off topic, but I thought you would at least enjoy Sean’s opening rant in this video.
