Sonic finds Tails’ backpack, but assumes he just dropped and forgot it. Geoffrey St. John blocks Sonic from visiting Sally, but Sonic’s big worry are the overlanders being roboticized. Sneaking out and joined by Bunnie, the two learn that they’re perfectly fine, though unknown to them Robo-Robotnik has a plan for the overlanders, and it’s not reuniting Snively with the family.
I think I know why I dropped this round of Sonic The Hedgehog for a while. More stuff happens in this issue than last but these half-issue stories aren’t as interesting as the full issue and maybe a three-five page back-up. (Though I can do without the back-ups if they take time away from the main story.) I am curious what Robotnik’s plan is, and if Hope running across a Mobian will lead to their being saved.
Tails joins the still overcharged Knuckles in the second story. Unfortunately he can’t currently help Knuckles with his power control issues and an enraged Knuckles socks Tails unconscious. Athair takes Tails to his uncle Merlin, a sorcerer who must awaken Tails powers because the Ancient Walker are on their final steps and only Tails can save Knuckles.
I want to be curious about this story, if only because Tails is taking part, but between missing how Knuckles got this way and the little time devoted to it, that’s kind of difficult.
That’s basically the biggest problem with the comic. Shoving two equal length stories into a normal-sized comic for the time takes space away from both and I just can’t get into this comic. I’m also not happy with keeping Sonic and Sally apart. Overall this is kind of a neutral experience for me. I don’t hate it, but I’m not particularly interested in it, either.
