Reality punching again? What did reality do to these people to get punched so often?

Fracture #1

Action Lab Comics (July, 2011)

WRITER: Shawn Gabborin

ARTIST: Chad Cicconi

COLORIST/LETTERER: Dave Dwonch

Imagine waking up after napping on the couch to find yourself in the outfit of a supervillain, not knowing how you got there or why the cop wants to shoot you. Imagine your friend not believing your story. Imagine buying a journal and then finding a journal from the villain identity, Malice, and then another from the superhero Virtue after finding his journal waking up in his outfit and having superpowers you can’t control, then learning from Virtue’s journal that he has a secret wife and son? Poor Jeff doesn’t have to. That’s what he’s dealt with this week. Does it have something to do with that time he was hit by a bus, or Malice’s attempts to learn why he was having blackouts? That’s the crux of the series I guess.

The only complaint is that I don’t know Jeff’s last name. Most of this is setting up the series plot. It’s about a guy with a split personality: a supervillain, a superhero, and the civilian usually trapped between the two. He’s basically every role in a traditional superhero story and he needs to figure out why. As the story stands the concept is rather interesting. It’s where it goes that will be the heavy thing to review. The presentation keeps up with Jeff, and the end of the book are pages from Malice’s journal, giving the reader further hints as to what’s going on in his life.

Overall I like the idea. I wouldn’t mind reading further issues if I have the opportunity. As reviews go, that’s the best I can analyze at this issue.
