Silver Snively attacks the galactic Freedom Fighters, but Sonik manages to chase him off. Hawkhawk runs off to fight Snively’s boss, Robolactus, and the team join him to stop the planet-sized Robotnik descendant from juicing the planet. They aren’t doing well until Snively grows giant sized and tells him the planet isn’t nutritious enough, and instead directs him to the planet of Sonik’s enemies, the Shark. With Mobius somehow saved, the new team prepares for their next adventure.

One I hope never comes up. The word balloon placement is terrible. There are panels where I can’t tell what direction they’re supposed to go. Williams is a veteran by this point so what happened? I still can’t get into Gallagher’s humor, and if you don’t know the futuristic Guardians Of The Galaxy this is a parody of a lot of references are going over your head. I know they did mine. Yes, this is a way to come out of the darker stories for a bit, but it also needs to be good and this wasn’t.

Back in present day not-Australia, the Downunda Freedom Fighters pursue the bunyip. As Guru Emu goes into a trance to tell the bunyip’s history (and because it’s Gallagher we also get a bunch of useless trivia because he’s caught in that trance), a monster attacks and captures the others. Coming out of his trance, Gury sees his team disappear beneath the water before coming upon a dam…and not just so Gallagher can make a swearing joke that I’m totally expecting him to do all next issue in the final chapter.

It’s a shame this story didn’t end this issue as well so I could be spared more of it. Hardly anything really happens until the end and it’s still the same writer and same form of humor.

Overall this just feels like outdated filler more than a calming down after recent events. I’m just not a fan of his take on Sonic and the gags fall flat for me. I won’t miss this issue.
