This is it. Again. The Freedom Fighters and the Chaotix join forces this time for the supposedly final assault on Eggman’s lair. Meanwhile, Snively and the Dark Legion conspire to allow Sonic through so he and Eggman can have a final battle while Snively’s love interest can come and take over. That’s it. That’s all that happens.
There are some character moments as the Freedom Fighters remember where they were when they missed out on the last final battle all the way back in #50. We see the bad guys tricking both Sonic and Eggman (I guess they shifted completely over to the original Japanese name for the villain by this point). And that’s all that happens. It sets up #200.
I can see why I didn’t bother reviewing this the last time. There’s no story here, just a long fight scene to set up the next anniversary issue and the upcoming next replacement villain. This is the last of the Sonic comics I never reviewed for this site. From now on it’s revisiting stuff from the weekly review days until I’m all caught up with that.
