A group of explorers–Warrior and his giant lion Zarpatig, Andros, Kan, Cibertrhon, Doctor Kwynazoc, and later a robot named Carcanet–arrive on planet 10 to see if it’s suitable for colonization. They’re attacked by the forces of Kalaver, self-professed ruler of the planet, with Zarpatig hurt in the first battle. In the next one our heroes mean the villain and his forces–Lagrath, Monsterking, Diopshak, and one or two guys without names in this story–and the heroes aren’t doing well. During the battle, Warrior realizes Kalaver is using telekinesis to boost his weapon and manages to take the villain down, revealing he used to be human. The villain make their escape with data on their new enemy, just as the bird people led by Blackbird lift the heroes into their ship.
What they got right: If you figured out this is basically Argentina’s attempt to make their own Masters Of The Universe ripoff, congrats. There is enough different to the backstory to at least make it unique. And with a cartoon recently announced that I just found out about while looking into the toyline, it’s actually a good time to review this. The art is pretty good.
What they got wrong: I’m hoping the names sound better in Spanish than many of them do in English. “Kwynazoc”? “Cibertrhon”?
What I think overall: I wasn’t really drawn in personally but it’s not a bad comic. I could see others getting into this, especially if they’re nostalgic for the 1980s toyline or into Masters Of The Universe style characters. I’m the latter, but while it didn’t work for me, other people aren’t me and I can see what might interest them.
