I have my issues with Bleeding Cool but this article about comic creators complaining about DC’s Absolute line hurting indie creators (somehow) while those same complaining creators are pitching ideas for other Absolutized DC titles makes me realize just how messed this industry is even without social issues. It’s just a different kind of politics. I, on the other hand, have more personal reasons for not liking the Absolute universe, but it seems to be doing better than regular DC, who I hope isn’t taking the wrong lesson from it. They have a bad habit of doing just that because understanding takes effort, talent, and caring about what you’re working on and how to make your customers like it so they make more money. They aren’t very good at that and I’m not trusting Netflix to be any different.
Over at The Clutter Reports this week I wanted to test out my photo stage that I haven’t used in a while and wanted to get some actual reviews in this year, so I reviewed my old Goldbug Transformer. Reviewing my stuff isn’t the primary purpose of the website but it does bring in the curious, so I want to do a few more this year, if only to get me to start focusing on the Clutter For Sale section and clear some stuff out. Spoilers: this one isn’t on the list. I just wanted an easy figure to review. I want to do more of the stuff I’m keeping as filler and more of the stuff I’m not to get them in the sale section.
Here at the Spotlight this week we continue the Chapter By Chapter review of the novelization of Doctor Who: The Rescue and see the first of the new Decepticon profiles for CBS Transformers, including Megatron’s replacement. (Sorry, Starscream, it isn’t you. You’ll have to settle for getting your ball bearings back. Not that you ever use them.) Comic reviews continue as they did last week, and anything else depends on time (it’s going to be a busy week–this is why I need filler posts) and potential topics depending on the latest news or what some idiot says in an interview. Have a great week, everyone!
