Maybe because I’m tired today, but I’ve got nothing to really work with here.

Sonic holds the Iron Dominion soldiers off long enough for Tails to get Robotnik to New Mobotropolis, while the rest of the still standing Freedom Fighters join in until Nicole can get the shield up. The Iron Queen is less than happy with these developments, and takes it out on Snively. Robotnik is kept in a cell in New Mobotropolis.

What they got right: I do like how Bunnie gets a chance to get a bit of payback on the Iron Queen. As an opposite, Lien-Da is decisively evil, and watching her is going to be rather interesting.

What they got wrong: If we finally have everybody in place, and the sides chosen, then nothing.

Updated thoughts: I don’t remember if the set-up is over and the battle is on. I believe she does have one more evil trick on her hands. I do like Sonic talking with Monkey Khan (who is preparing to pursue Sally–which I don’t like), explaining that he feels pity for Robotnik’s current state because “I move too fast to have time to be vengeful”, and does “what’s right at the time”. It’s a nice bit of heroism we don’t get anymore, and I probably ignored it during the original review because at the time it was still a default for heroes. I also like that Khan brought Bunnie to see they had successfully repelled Iron Queen after what she did to both of them.

In the back-up story, Lien-Da decides to betray Dimitri and her own people for a chance to finally reach the rank of Grandmaster. Extending from the original review: Dimitri has found a workaround to Iron Queen’s chips, which will disable Robotnik’s bombs but leave the Iron Legion under her potential control. Seeking her own power, Lien-Da installs the command chip in her own cybernetic circuits, locks Dimitri away, and tells the Iron Queen he ran off, so Regina puts her in charge of the Legion.

Yes, she’ll betray her people for the rank she felt was denied her by her scheming brother. We’ll see how that plays out, if I stuck around that long.

What I think overall: I had a bit more to say this round than the original review. I still want this to stop escalating and have all the pieces in play, but we’ll see how long that goes. I’m waiting for Snively to realize he’s been suckered by Regina (apparently her origin continues next issue) and pay her back. It’s Robotnik all over again except both versions were open about not liking Snively.
