I shouldn’t be surprised that much of this design made it into the movies and greatly influenced TNG, thank goodness for my childhood’s sake. I particularly like the photon torpedo dish being sunken into the front bit (I’m not overly familiar with ship speak), a second torpedo bay being added, and the whole thing glowing blue for the appropriate look of lethal firepower. And that the bridge design became more or less the gold standard for all future bridges. There are a couple of details I find incredibly off-base: the central warp column in engineering being surrounded by gold spheres (it’s way better-looking almost completely, um, exposed, as seen in TNG), and the weapons station hidden in a cramped nook behind that odd side turbolift (I shudder to think of Worf or Yar having to deal with that position for seven TV seasons). Otherwise, this is remarkably accurate to what the franchise would look like going forward, very impressive.
