I wonder if this is what it’s like to be a My Little Pony?
Last year during Art Soundoff I discussed the colored lineart in Justice League Action and how I noticed they didn’t use back for the lines, opting for a darker version of what they were coloring. For example dark blue outlines for Superman’s outfit but dark red for the cape outlines but the colors on the costume and cape themselves were still nice and bright. One commentor said that was called color hold and I’ve since notice different ways of doing it beyond JLAction and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. I really like the idea and I want to play around with it.
So as usual poor Leon is the test subject. I don’t think it works for this art style or maybe I’m doing it wrong but I still see some potential with it. I may try it with other character model styles.
