DC Comics decided not to renew with Diamond’s “Previews” catalog and go their own direction with trying to get comics into stores. There was a time when companies like Advance Comics’ owners offered comic stores a choice as to who to use to get their comics and collectables each week. Then DC was talked into an exclusivity deal with Diamond in exchange for greater promotion in their Previews catalog, other publishers tried to get in on that, and all Advance could get for their own exclusivity deal was Viz at a time when manga isn’t a prevalent as it is today. Soon Diamond became the only place to get the big name comics from and it’s caused issues for the industry and readers ever since. Could DC attempting to do what Marvel did by creating their own distribution network be a success? I kind of doubt it.
