Jake & Leon #5

Someday I have to learn to draw the Autobot symbol.

I’m wondering if I should have drawn a mask on him, too?

Here’s a little FYI for you. This was actually the first planed Jake And Leon strip I had in mind, due to Knuckles and the other Chaotix getting a storyline to themselves. (I was sad when Archie canceled the Knuckles the Enchidna comic back in the day.) I had decided that Leon was a big Knuckles fan, which is why in the official first comic he went off to play the classic Sonic & Knuckles game. However, when I put up a poll to gauge whether or not starting the weekly comic reviews with a comic strip would work, I received 0 votes one way or the other, and decided to make that the joke, saving this for next month, to coincide with the Knuckles story arc in Sonic Universe.

You’ll also noticed that there aren’t a lot of backgrounds in this week’s comic. To be honest, I think I’ve been overdoing the backgrounds for this art style, so I decided to go with something simple, which is why Leon is kneeling on the floor. (Well, that and I wanted to make sure Leon was “out of frame” until the last panel.) I’ve also noticed that if I write the text for the strip at the same size I scan it at, and then resize the whole thing, the fonts don’t get all messed up at the end. I’ll have to try that with the comic-style fonts I’ve grabbed to use for this comic, to see if any of them do the same thing.
