Finally Watched…Sonic The Hedgehog

The Finally Watched marathon continues with a two-parter of sorts, as I go over the two currently out Sonic The Hedgehog movies.

Video game adaptations have not been that great, since they’re so often put into the hands of people who don’t care about video games in general and the game being adapted specifically. All they care about are their stories and will happily use the brand to trick people into seeing their vision, positive that they’ll come around and see what they created is superior to that crap that usually uses the name. These egoists are then surprised when that doesn’t happen because you ticked off the actual fans while the audience you really wanted saw the brand and went elsewhere. That is why they fail.

The question becomes whether or not Sonic The Hedgehog and it’s sequel fall into that trap. Note that I am unable to watch the Knuckles solo series and the third movie isn’t coming until later this year at last check.

BW’s Daily Video> Batman’s Opinion Of Nightwing

Taken from one of the audio logs in the Gotham Knights video game with video clips added by TheManDeeDubs.

Sounds about how it should be. Batman may need a Robin, but it was Dick that helped Batman gain a bit of his humanity, taking him off of the edge. Even in the comics, the character was created to soften Batman as more kids were getting into the character.

Finally Watched…Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets

So events this week are forcing me to run through my Finally Watched list because we’re changing television providers…again. Long story. Point is I don’t have time to do anything other than write Finally Watched articles for the feature, so I’m going to break out another one of those.

Valerian And Laureline is a French sci-fi comic series about two ” spatio-temporal” agents having adventures. I have not read this comic, save for a Free Comic Book Day release to promote the movie and the English translation of the series to coincide with it. It seemed okay but for the most part I cannot tell you how accurate an adaptation the movie is to the comics. Said movie was not received well by the sci-fi movie loving community, but it’s one that’s been on the list since it came out, and I finally had the chance to watch it. Given that I disagreed with the consensus before, what are my thoughts this time around? Let’s see.

BW’s Daily Video> Klingon Style

If you don’t understand Klingon, hit the closed captions for a translation. If you DO understand Klingon, tell us in the comments if they’re actually doing it right or just made stuff up. Yes, there is official Klingon available to the general public. The movies were that dedicated.

Finally Watched…In Like Flint

In our previous installment in this series we took a look at 1966’s Our Man Flint, starring James Coburn as secret agent Derek Flint. While it’s been said that Our Man Flint was a James Bond parody, I didn’t see it. Flint is nothing like Bond outside of how he draws women to him and even reforms the villainess with his raw sex appeal. It was more like a campy spy picture rather than a parody of spy pictures. One year later we get something closer to parody with In Like Flint, with Coburn returning for another adventure with the Zonal Organization World Intelligence Espionage group.

This time Derek is dealing with a whole villain group of women…well, mostly women. They need a few men to complete their goal. What is their goal? We’ll get into that in a moment. First, we have the usual stuff to do.

Thanks, trailer. Now I don’t have to worry about spoilers because you put most of them IN THE TRAILER FOR THE MOVIE! Sadly, we haven’t learned our lesson enough in modern day.

RELEASE DATE: 1967
