BW’s Daily Video> The War For The Panderverse

It’s the Critical Drinker. There’s swearing by a drunk Scot.

You mean a South Park special attacked both sides of the debate? I haven’t seen it because it’s exclusive to Paramount Plus and the show’s general humor style is not to my taste in comedy and even I’m not surprised.

Chapter By Chapter> Batman: Knightfall part 3 chapter 6

Chapter By Chapter (usually) features me reading one chapter of the selected book at a time and reviewing it as if I were reviewing an episode of a TV show or an issue of a comic. There will be spoilers if you haven’t read to the point I have, and if you’ve read further I ask that you don’t spoil anything further into the book. Think of it as read-along book club.

PART 3: KnightsEnd

When we last saw Bruce he was using Lady Shiva to regain his fighting spirit. As I mentioned there the logic is sound. Shiva is one of DC’s best assassins, alongside the likes of David Cain, Deathstroke, and others…most of whom fight Batman or Robin a lot I notice. She might find the idea of getting Batman, who doesn’t kill, a few lessons from the assassin side, since it’s practically a religion to her. Batman’s also beaten her before so he knows defeating her will mean Bruce is ready to retake the cowl.

Narratively, and I don’t know yet if the book or the original comics this is adapting took the opportunity, we have a chance to explore Bruce’s “no kill” rule, something fans of the “kill the Joker” group like to break out is that Batman (or The “Bat-Man”) did kill in his earliest appearances.

Wait, isn’t this the Joker’s origin?

Fair enough but that one could be an accident, even if that Batman didn’t seem bothered by it. Early Batman got his cues from pulp heroes like The Shadow, when killing the baddies were all the rage. Eventually DC (then known as National Comics before naming themselves after Detective Comics for a reason) decided that if kids were flocking to this character and back then they didn’t hate kids (or rather their money) maybe a killin’ Batman was not a good idea. Also the Comics Code happened. By now, however, the idea that Batman doesn’t kill is just part of his character, that he respects life and will not play judge, jury, and executioner. Let the courts kill him and if the Joker ain’t dead yet, stop blaming Batman. The problem with killing is that it gets easier and at some point, the argument used by opponents of the death penalty, you end up killing an innocent person.

Let’s see how this story uses Shiva, but first we should check in on Jean Paul. He’s not a well man.

BW’s Daily Video> MatPat’s Five Nights At Freddy’s Cameo

Well, I did have the clip in Shorts form but Universal pulled it down. I do understand that, but I wish they had done it BEFORE the article was set-up to post this morning. Anyway, here’s MatPat himself discussing being in the movie based on a video game he has done a looooooot of Game Theory episodes about.

Also catch Film Theory on YouTube

Finally, if you have a Peacock account (owned by NBCUniversal) you can see the Five Nights At Freddy’s movie. I don’t do a horror but a friend of mine said she and her kids love it. See if you can find all the other FNAF YouTube player cameos.

Jake & Leon #577: Galactic Positioning System

The sad part is that isn’t even Saturn.

See? Shralk is just lost and that’s why he didn’t show up this October. It’s totally not because I forgot to do it until I found the launching comic for the storyline while doing the anniversary post. No, why would you think that? Don’t think things like that. I said stop!

Over at The Clutter Reports this week I took the opportunity of still doing the comic pricing to do a discussion piece about segmenting your decluttering and how it’s a process that has benefitted me in the long run. Not every method works for everyone but it’s been working for me thus far. I even took some time to clean-up my desk somewhat, though a larger reorganize is still incoming.

What happens here this week? Well, I was going to do a week of article links for the daily quickpost because that’s piling up like the Comics By Perch episodes but then I learned something neat that leads to a Monday video post. Not sure what will happen the rest of the week. Meanwhile, we continue the Chapter By Chapter review of the Batman: Knightfall novelization on Monday and the next installment of Beast Machine Hunters as we continue to look at the Maximal descriptions for season 1 Beast Machines in that story guide. In between will be…other topics. Have a great week, everyone!

Saturday Night Showcase> Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla

I know it’s not the next one chronologically but I couldn’t let Godzillaween go by without something for my favorite G-Foe, Mechagodzilla!

Why do we need evil Superman when we already have Bizarro and General Zod (plus other evil Kryptonians like Zod) to do it for them? Black Adam is supposed to face Captain “Shazam!” Marvel for a reason. They’re the evil opposite, the result of what happens when someone uses the hero’s own powers and talents for evil instead of good. You don’t need “what if ‘X’ turns evil” because you already have it!

Well, if Godzilla is going to be the Guardian Monster then someone has to be the evil counterpart. Enter: Mechagodzilla. While more recent continuities have made Mecha G a creation of the Japanese government to fight the evil again Godzilla, the original was a creation of evil aliens to attack Godzilla and RULE THE WORLD! Tonight we see his first appearance, when a priestess (who this time ISN’T from Mars or Venus…I think) has a vision of monsters on the rampage, it’s shocked to see Godzilla turning back to smashing cities. Except Godzilla is a good kaiju now and has finally started walking around Japanese cities. What’s going on? And can Godzilla’s new friend King Caesar help him and Anguirus stop his evil twin? Let’s just say there’s a reason Caesar doesn’t show up a lot in this franchise.

This is an interesting twist. The one on YouTube is English and I have to send you to Shout TV (the recently rebranded Shout Factory TV just to mess with previous articles and tags on this site apparently) for the Japanese version. No, this isn’t the original American dub Godzilla Vs. The Cosmic Monster, it’s a brand new dub of the original Japanese. Either way, choose your favorite language and enjoy.
