I had to make an extra post today, if only to pull myself off this site long enough to do tonight’s Galactica review. What site?
NORAD Tracks Santa
There is no better source for Christmas fun on the Internet, and if you can find it, please tell me. NORAD is the North American Aerospace Defense Command (shouldn’t that be NAADC?), a joint defensive operation between the United States and Canadian militaries. It’s mission is to insure potential enemies don’t attack our continent from the air. (Perhaps Mexico can’t afford to join up?)
The story begins with NORAD’s predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD). Every year they allowed kids to call them up and get updates on where Santa Claus’s flight plan had taken him at that moment. The full story is up at their site. A few years ago, NORAD started Noradsanta.org so kids could instead use the power of the Internet to know when to hit the sack so they’ll get their presents. Over the years, the site’s had extra features, like games…oh, the games, so many I had to make this post just to get off it…recipes, the history of Santa, and more. It’s a great Christmas site, so go on it now.
Now let’s see if I can stay off long enough to do tonight’s Saturday Night Galactica. That thing’s late enough each week as it is.
