I’ve read my copy of The Power of Point Dread, a mini-comic packaged with my Skeletor and a few other Masters of the Universe figures, so often that I had to get a new one. While looking it over this week, I noticed something I didn’t see before, in all those years of reading. I wonder if you see it, too?

Hey, that guy slept with my wife! Go Skele...I mean...for ETERNIA!

Hey, that guy slept with my wife! Go Skele...I mean...for ETERNIA!

Pay very close attention to the guy a bit too close to the pink lightburst near a yellow explosion and some debris flying around wall to Royal Palace. Look at him very closely. Not the guy on the ground, the flying one the other guy’s pointing at, and where he’s pointing at.

That's one way to solve heartburn!

That's one way to solve heartburn!

Is it just the art depicting more debris around him, or his chest really exploding out? Also notice two other guys getting their frequent flier miles, to be cashed in at Afterlife Airlines, and another guy about to get clocked by a flying helmet. Just subtle enough for the target kids, but still good for older readers, including those who like to read too much into things. See, that’s how it’s done, people!

Cliff Notes: After finding a Talon Fighter/Point Dread set at the Castle Greyskull gift shop, Skeletor launches an assault on the Royal Palace of Eternia. With Beast Man in Point Dread, Tri-Klops leading the ground troops, and Skeletor in the Talon Fighter, they were sure to win the day. Except He-Man’s the hero in a comic for kids (although that poor guy up there won’t be seeing his again), so he was doomed to failure. Plus he’s working with Beast Man. That almost insures you’re going to lose, doesn’t it?

Vote for your favorite Round 7 Panel of PAIN!

Side note: I never owned any MOTU vehicle toys, but I did have snap-together model kits of the Talon Fighter and the Attak Trak that were compatable with the figures. However, they really didn’t stand up to use, being cheap snap-together models. Still, they were fun to put together and gave me something to do during activity period. And they lasted longer than the glue-together models the teacher insisted I should be building (and were a slagging lot easier for me to use without making a mess with that model glue!), which just couldn’t survive in that sun-oven that was my bedroom. Poor C-3PO never did get his legs attached, and KITT wasn’t strong enough for playtime, either. (It was a very nice T-Top while it lasted, though. Working steering wheel and tires too, but no axel.)

I had Battle Cat (no movable legs!) and some crazy green car…can’t think of the name of that thing. They were fun and all, but not the best out there. You want the coolest toy vehicles, you gotta go with GIJoe or TRON. The Wheeled Warriors were up there too…

Green car? The only green vehicles that come to mind are the Road Ripper (a motorcycle-like thing), the Dragon Walker, and the Wind Raider, which was supposed to be a flying vehicle. I never owned a Wheel Warriors figure, but I loved the cartoon.

And how do you not list MASK and Transformers/GoBots and then come here? 🙂

There we go, looked on ebay and it was that Wind Raider thingy. I was thinking it had wheels on the bottom, so was thinking ‘car.’ Holy moley, I forgot MASK, I had the semi, it would open up and reveal a missle launcher and computers and whatnot. Nice, detailed toys.

Those darn transformers/Gobots I always think of as robots, rarely played them in their vechicle forms myself. Nice detail though, looked like models. Dinobots were my favotites though, T-rex was very cool. Starriors were more obscure, but cool too.

Wheeled Warriors were awesome, sort of like Mr. Potato Head vechicles with slots to interchange parts, guns, huge buzzsaws and stuff.
