While we await our marching orders and the judging of the top DJ of “G7: Fight Music”, it’s time to put the quarters away, unplug the jukebox, and close the club down. I guess that makes this the fight in the parking lot. Tell Doc Brown that we have to go Bahlactus in time to check out more thrilling fights of yesteryear. The theme this time was “Knockout”. This tournament was a bit different. Each month the winning entry received a different graphic novel, so in addition to my favorites, I’ll be including the winning fight of the round. 6 rounds this week, 6 next week. It’s time for the best of the still-linkable as decided by the BW Media Spotlight (in other words, me).
The Best of
Knockout: Rounds 1-6
Round 1:
- A Green Lantern that breaks hearts AND skulls.
- Wertham may have had a point after all.
- Sherlock Holmes resorts to fisticuffs.
- I believe I’ve said before that knocking out Hitler is an instant entry, and if I didn’t I should have.
- And the winning entry: this little piece of nightmare fuel
Round 2:
- Can’t anybody in the Marvel Universe get along for five minutes?
- Luke Cage finds the coolest weapons.
- And the winning entry: Don Rickles: Crimefighter!
Round 3:
- Where do you think you are, Wonder Woman, in a Marvel comic?
- It was fast, alright.
- Cute asian versus robot. Who to root for?
- And those PETA chumps are next!
- You don’t mess with the Vision’s woman!
- And the winning entry: How the DC/Fawcett lawsuit really went!
Round 4:
- Geeks everywhere cheered!
- I not sure this is actually “unarmed” combat, more like unbodied combat
- Even Chuck Norris felt that!
- A knockout so good, that I used it myself once!
- The sad story of the Pym family…leading to the winner:
- And the winning entry: Darn kid thinks he’s Hank Pym!
Round 5:
- I love me some Wolverine abuse.
- I have this comic. I collect odd things.
- And the winning entry: went to Pop Goes the Icon, but the link only gave me a 500 Server error.
Round 6:
- I just hope she’s worth it.
- Too much win for three panels.
- Frankly, they had me at Godzilla, but bonuses on bonuses!
- And the hits just keep on coming!
- And the winning entry: What we’re looking for in Iron Man 2.
And that was the first six rounds. As of this writing, Spacebooger hasn’t put up the grand champion posting yet, but when he does, please go and vote for the overall winner of “G7: Fight Music? There haven’t been a lot of voters, and even fewer participants this tournament. Hopefully, the next one gets everybody going.
